Belgravia is located southwest of the University of Alberta's main campus. To the west, Belgravia overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley. Initial development began in 1912 and most was completed by the 1960s. The southwest portion of the neighborhood contained commercial until early 2000 when it was sold for development purposes. The newer portion of the neighborhood has a higher density than previous decades of development. Choice lots in Belgravia are becoming attractive for infill development.
